The first time I heard about Twitter, I was completely uninterested. I've heard horror stories about how people get addicted to Twitter, carrying their i-phones around, and reporting every movement that they make throughout the day. Who has that kind of time?
What really caught my eye was that internet marketing guru, Joel Comm, says that Twitter works. He even wrote a book called Twitter Power. Okay, when Joel Comm says to take a look at Twitter, I figure it's worth taking a glance.
Much to my surprise, Twitter is quick and easy to use. It's also fun and can really help you to connect with people you'd never get the chance to connect with.
For example, I'm an aspiring author and am currently writing a book addressing the childhood obesity epidemic. Within seconds, I can search Twitter, find out who is talking about a topic I'm interested in, and join in. If I want to do some market research for my book, I could search for "childhood obesity", find out who's talking about it and what's being said. I can choose to connect with people who are saying something interesting.
So, I'm really glad that I gave Twitter a chance. My followers are growing everyday with about 10 minutes of effort a week. As my followers grow, so do my resources.
This resource really helped me to easily and effortlessly build my followers.

"How You Do Anything Is How You Do Everything!"
"How You Do Anything Is How You Do Everything!"
Powerful Stuff! The first time I heard that quote, courtesy of David Wolfe, the raw foods nutritional expert and author, I had to really think about it. Could it really be true that how I do the slightest, most mundane thing in my life is how I do everything?
So, if I start my morning off by just going through the motions - getting dressed, brushing my teeth, making a smoothie, getting lunches ready, taking the kids to school - AND I'm just mindlessly performing these duties, what does that say about me? Is that how I live the rest of my life?
It says that I'm starting my day without thinking. It says that I'm just trying to get through my to-do list without paying much attention to the big picture. It says that tomorrow and the day after that will just be more of the same.
What if, I paused in the morning? What if I thought about what I was doing? What if I added an attitude of purpose and presence to the usual routines? What if how I do anything, no matter how mundane, is how I do everything?
Well, I still need to complete my daily responsibilities, BUT what if, while I'm making my smoothie and the kids' lunches, I envision a beautiful and purposeful day? What if I take the time to write down what I want out of life and actually look at how my day fulfills that?
Hmmm, how easy would it be to wake up and focus on everything you're grateful for? What if you spent five minutes every morning thinking about all of the wonderful things that you actually have going for you. Got your health? Like waking up in a free country? Have a job despite the economy? Got a great mate? Have healthy kids? Have eyes that can see all of the beauty around you? Anyone love you? Do you love anyone?
Okay, now for the next five minutes of your morning routine, how about focusing on the big picture for your life. What do you really want? If you don't know what you want, just focus on what you DON'T want, and that will help you to figure it out. Do you really love the health field but you have to practice accounting to make a living? How do you actually want to spend your days? What if you formulated a plan to do some small action each day that would lead you closer to your goal? What if you didn't live in a mindset that imprisons you?
At the end of the day, ask yourself what you learned today? How have you helped others? How has today added to the quality of your life? Was today an investment in your future? Are you creating your own destiny, or are you letting the day-to-day responsibilities weigh you down so much that you've forgotten who you are and what's REALLY important to you.
Make today a great day! And remember, "How You Do Anything Is How You Do Everything"!

The World is Moving Fast!
For anyone who hasn't had a chance to check out the video that Sony played at its executive conference, the link's below.
It is mind boggling to think about exactly how fast we're moving. All those sci fi movies that I love don't seem so out of reach anymore. If we, as business people and parents, don't keep up with technology, we won't be able to communicate with each other or our kids. I remember what a big deal it was when my mom learned to send an email to the grandkids. Because she wasn't afraid to learn something new, and believe me, it wasn't easy for her, she can better communicate with her entire family.
If that's not enough, my nine-year-old is asking for a cell phone. And, you know what, a few years ago I would have told him he's crazy, and now I'm entertaining the idea! :-)
Happy Viewing!

Angelina Jolie - What does our Obsession say about us?
"Angelina Jolie kisses her brother", "Angelina catches Brad kissing the Nanny", "Angelina pregnant with twins". It goes on and on and on and on... You get the picture. We can't even checkout at Safeway without a weekly update on the couple. And if that's not enough, there's always an article about Jennifer Aniston and how she's either moving on with her life or she's still in love with Brad. Okay, as much as I hate to admit it, the latest article does tend to catch my eye. Thankfully, I just stick to the headlines and don't need to open up the mags.
If an alien landed on our planet and caught a whiff of our obsession with Hollywood, I think he'd be pretty disgusted. Who'd stick around to find out about this planet? What kind of values do we have? Why are we so obsessed with the Hollywood gossip? Are our own lives so boring that we have to live through the rich and famous?
This whole obsession has me wondering... Why don't we see more hype about people who are really interesting? People who are everyday heroes? People like firemen and women, soldiers, police officers - people who risk their lives every single day so that we can be safe. What about teachers, doctors, and nurses? What about the eye surgeon who saved my vision by performing a revolutionary operation? You don't read about him. Is it really true that this isn't as interesting and important as Angelina being jealous of Jen?
There are so many everyday un-sung heroes. Perhaps we could appreciate them a little more. How about giving an extra smile and some understanding next time you see your child's teacher? How about appreciating the people and the miracles that we are witness to each and every day? How about being thankful and actively creating our own lives rather than living through others? You know what they say, "garbage in, garbage out". Make today a great day; choose wisely what you focus on.

Reversing Diabetes Action Day - April 25th
Have you ever watched someone you love in terrible, tormenting pain? Have you had to stand by and watch their strong body endure torment? For the past 20 years, I've helplessly seen my dad suffer through just about every complication/risk factor that diabetes has to offer in its ugly smorgasbord. Diabetes has a hideous side beyond "not being able to eat a lot of sugar and watching your glycemic index"! Very ugly, indeed.
Picture a strong athletic man with the most positive, winning attitude I've had the privilege of encountering, not being able to walk - being relegated to a wheelchair because he's had so much nerve damage and infections in the bones of his feet. What about laser eye surgery, needles in the eyes, impaired vision? What about being on so many different medications that your body retains 30 pounds of fluid just to dilute all of the toxins within you? What about being out shopping with your grandkids and having your eleven-year-old granddaughter call the paramedics because you're having a low blood sugar attack in Target? What about being so sick to your stomach that you can't eat normally for months at a time? Try having your entire chest cavity sawed open for bypass surgery. The list goes on and on. We're so blessed that my dad keeps a smile on his face and has the will of 1,000 men! We're also blessed to watch my caring mom tirelessly stand by his side and support him in every way.
Well, diabetes is no longer a disease for grandparents. The latest statistics show that 1 in 3 children born from the year 2000 onward will get Type 2 diabetes! This is the first generation of adults who will probably outlive their kids. If that doesn't scare you into action, it should! What could be worse than watching your own child suffer through torment and a decreased lifespan?
Fortunately, there's a movement to get away from this culture of death and drugs and holistically cure diabetes. Yes, I said "cure", not manage. Anyway, it's worth your while to check out Dr. Gabriel Cousens, M.D., an overwhelmingly successful pioneer in the wellness field. He's authored many books including There is a Cure for Diabetes.
In honor of "Reversing Diabetes Action Day" on April 25th, 53 experts from the live food community will be sharing "Simply Raw, Reversing Diabetes in 30 Days" with the public. They'll be giving away lots of information like e-books, audios, recipes, magazines, coupons and more to support the film and The Movement to Reverse Diabetes. Here's the link. http://www.rawfor30days.com/RawFor30/ReverseDiabetes5.html
Best wishes in your journey to health and wellness. Courtesy of lessons from my dad, the best gift you can give yourself is the gift of a lighthearted, positive attitude and a belief and faith that anything is possible.

A Tasty & Healthy Treat for Busy Moms & Kids
A house full of kids and no snacks... YIKES! I rummage through the fridge - Zip, Nada, Zero! Boy, do we parents need to be resourceful sometimes! I start scanning the freezer. What's that I see? Okay, I've got it:
TASTY SMOOTHIE TREAT
2 - 3 cups frozen mango (Trader Joe's brand is great)
2 - 3 fresh oranges
1 fresh or frozen banana
1/2 cup water
ice
secret super healthy ingredient (optional): 4 Tablespoons hemp seed nut - if you're curious, see below.
The kids hear the blender and come zooming around the corner. This smoothie is gone before I even get the blender washed! Looks like I've got to whip up another batch. I think I'll throw in some strawberries for a little color.
Okay, so if you're curious about the hemp, you should be! It has an exceptionally mild flavor, it's full of protein, and is a delicious source of omega 3 & 6 essential fatty acids. Just two tablespoons supply 11 grams of healthy raw protein that your body assimilates exceptionally well. You'll find it at your local health food store.
Enjoy!

Has Today Added to the Quality of my Life?
As I sit here typing, in my comfy green sweatshirt and red "Life is Good" pajama pants, I look back on the day and think to myself, "How has today added to the quality of my life?" Hmmm, well, I got some office work and research done, cleaned the house up a bit, and got the kids to and from school. Okay, so maybe at first glance that's not a very promising list! As I sip my chamomile tea, I investigate this a bit further. Well, does it have to be something big? Or, is small okay? Did I actually improve the quality of my life today?
Okay, so I got some necessary daily tasks done that help our family overall, but what about a deeper quality? Well, let's see... on the 7 minute ride home from school, my daughter and I got to spend a few minutes alone together chatting about some fun teenage kind of stuff. Just those few minutes of closeness each day help to shape our relationship. I can choose to use that time to nag her about homework, her day, or her messy room, OR I can choose to breathe, take a few moments to connect with her, and have a little fun sharing our lives.
Yes, today added to the quality of my life & my daughter's life, by choosing kindness and genuinely sharing a few precious moments with my little girl.
